Vanessa Brotto is the manager of eLearning and online CPD at the Victorian Branch of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation as well as an academic at Deakin University where she lectures on medications and pharmacology in the Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) degrees. Her PhD was funded by an Australian Research Council grant and focused on medication errors in acute care hospitals.
Vanessa also works as a Clinical Nurse specialist in the Intensive Care / Post anaesthetic care units at the Alfred hospital and has been involved in educational and clinical research with Deakin, Cabrini and the Alfred hospitals. She is a reviewer for a number of Australian and International nursing journals and has contributed to numerous nursing and pharmacology textbooks as a writer and reviewer. Vanessa co-wrote Clinical Dosage Calculations for Australia and New Zealand (2012) which is now in its second edition and has been very popular internationally . It was the joint winner of Cengage Learning’s book of the year for top sales in Australia and also shortlisted for the Australian Publishers Awards in 2012.
