Allana Jellard is a parent of 2 children, her 16 year old daughter Billie, and her 14 year old son Sam, who has Autism and currently attends Northern School for Autism in Lalor. They live in St. Helena, which is a north eastern suburb of Melbourne where the National Disability Insurance Scheme has started to roll out. Allana and a group of Northern School parents have spent the last six months being involved in the NDIS – Amaze project which aimed to increase the capacity of people with disability and their families to exercise choice and control, both in engaging with the NDIS and in purchasing supports in an open market in order to realise their aspirations.  In her spare time she likes to horse ride and rock climb and is currently enrolled in a double pre-apprenticeship at Melbourne Polytechnic in Carpentry/joinery and stairbuilding/shopfitting.
